4 Signs Your Commercial Building Should Be Repainted

About Me
A Bright, Front Door

A few years ago my father purchased my mother a new front door for their home. At first, my mother was excited. However, she quickly decided she didn’t like the plain white color of the door, so she asked my father to paint the door a vivid burgundy color. I visited the home after the front door was painted. The burgundy color of the door looked amazing against the blue color of the house. If you want to give your home a fresh, new look without spending a lot of money, consider what changing the paint might do for the interior and exterior.

Your commercial building can take on a lot of wear. These types of wear will be those that your home won't have to endure. You should know what to look for when it comes to knowing when it's time for you to repaint your commercial space. Here are 4 signs that the time has come for a commercial space repainting:

1: The bottom half of the walls have a lot of paint damage

Depending on the type of business you have, the bottom portion of your walls may endure a lot of damage. They may be hit with boxes being brought into the business on dollies or forklifts. Or, you can have a lot of children coming through the space touching the wall with sticky fingers, picking at the paint, or even writing on it.

2: There are signs of mold or mildew under the paint

Your commercial space may have areas where there is moisture that can lead to an increased risk of mold or mildew growth. Mold or mildew can grow under the paint. You can recognize these areas by seeing small black dots or other dark stains in or under the paint. If you see such areas of concern, then the mold or mildew needs to be tended to properly and the areas will need to be repainted.

3: There is chalking on the business exterior

Exterior paint is put through a lot due to its constant exposure to the outside elements. As the paint weathers, there can be degradation and separation of its components. This will often cause there to be a powdery residue sitting on the top surface of the paint that's referred to as "chalking." When this happens to the paint, it means that it is time for you to have the commercial building's exterior repainted.

4: There are visual signs of damage

There can be a lot of visual signs of damage to the interior or exterior paint of a commercial building. Some examples of this damage can include chipping or peeling. There are some areas that may show this damage sooner, such as the eaves of the roof or the corners of the building. In some cases, there may even include bubbling, and these bubbled areas can be small or large. Repainting the building at the first sign of damage is the best way to keep it looking in great condition.
